Consignment

WHAT DO WE ACCEPT?

Here at Equine Exchange we are committed to offering our horse community with quality horse tack and apparel at an affordable cost. To do this we must be picky in the items we accept as consignments.

- We will not accept consignment items with a value less than $25. Items valued under $25 can be accepted as a donation and we can provide you with a tax receipt

- Items consigned must be current with trends, in working order, not needing repairs, and free of mold.

- If consignor would like to consign dirty tack there is a $25 cleaning fee PER ITEM. This cleaning fee will be charged at drop off. There is no cleaning fee for donated items.

- Agreed upon sale price of consigned items will be dropped 25% if the item does not sell within 30 days.

- Items valued over $100 will be marketed on eBay, Facebook, and our website.

- If a consigned item does not sell within 90 days of drop off the consignor will be given an option of donating the item for a tax deduction OR they can pick up their item.

Consignment Policy

Saddle Consignment

  • Equine Exchange will act as an agent for the Consignor, therefore the articles placed with Equine Exchange, will remain the property of the Consignor until sold, picked up by Consignor or shipped back to Consignor.

  • Consignor’s articles are covered by Equine Exchange’s business insurance policy while in Equine Exchange’s care.

  • Items placed on consignment will be priced at the amount that is agreed upon by the Consignor and Consignee.

  • All sales or discounts on consignment saddles will be discussed with Consignor prior to execution.

  • Consignee will secure full payment for the consigned saddle prior to being shipped out or picked up for a trial period.

  • Consignor agrees to allow saddle to be shipped out on trials with prospective buyers for periods of 5-8 days. During which time, saddles will be test ridden.

  • Consignor also agrees for saddle to be displayed at Equine Exchange vendor booths at horse shows.

  • Consignor agrees to allow the saddle to be transported in a car and taken to prospective buyers for test rides on local day trials.

  • Consignor shall not hold Equine Exchange responsible for wear, damage, fire or theft during trial periods. However, the saddle will be paid for in full prior to being sent out on a trial. If it is returned with excessive wear and/or damage, the repair cost or difference in value will be deducted from the trial customer’s refund. Therefore, the full Consignment payout will still be paid out to the Consignor unless otherwise agreed upon.

  • Equine Exchange agrees to advertise all consigned saddles to the best of its ability.

  • Consignor Agrees to let their saddle be listed on eBay. Payouts will be based off the final funds received through eBay after fees are taken. Ex. Sale price is $1,000. After eBay fees total funds received would be $980. 20% would be taken from the $980. The rest would be paid out to the consignor.

Consignment Selling Period and Terms:

  • Consignor is responsible for all shipping charges between Consignor and Consignee.

  • Consignor must give 7 days notice prior to removing consigned items  from Equine Exchange inventory for consignment.

  • Consignor may not advertise or sell consigned items on other sales platforms while the item is consigned with Equine Exchange.

  • There is a $100 fee for removing a consigned saddle from our stock to cover cleaning and advertising time and expenses. The owner is also responsible for the shipping costs (incoming and outgoing).

  • Equine Exchange's saddle consignment fee is 20%.

  • Equine Exchange's general tack consignment fee is 40%. That includes bridals, saddle pads, apparel, etc.

  • There is a $25 cleaning fee for dirty consignments. This fee will be paid for at the time of drop-off.

  • Consignors must be reasonable with their sale price. If the item receives no interest within 30 days the item will be discounted by 25%.

  • Equine Exchange is committed to getting the tack sold and will list consignments valued over $100 on eBay, Facebook, and our Website.

Payment Policy:

  • Once the consignment item has sold, full due payment will be made to Consignor within 30 days. We process Pay-Outs once a month.

  • Please do not contact us for updates on your saddle’s status after your saddle has gone out on trial. We will contact you to pay you out (see above). Or, we will contact you once we receive the saddle back from the trial and it has been fully checked back into our stock.

  • Full due payment to consignor refers to the payment paid for the item from the buyer to Equine Exchange, minus the consignment fee.

  • Payment will be made in the form of a mailed check or through Paypal and Venmo.

  • Consignor may also choose to apply some or all of the payment to store credit with Equine Exchange.
